Some Great "Bob" Stories......

--I remember the time the family was all sitting around watching "Naked Gun" for one of the first times...when the scene in the restaurant happened where the waiter came up to serve Leslie Nielsen's character and date then walked off while they continued talking...all of a sudden Bob burst out laughing and we all turned and looked at him and said "what's so funny?" And Bob said "are you kidding me?--didn't you SEE that?  The waiter didn't have anything on under his apron!"...and he re-wound the tape and sure enough....he didn't...and we all laughed--we all missed it the first time around....then of course he re-wound it again so he could laugh again even harder....remember that laugh?
------------------------------------------------------------------
--A friend wrote and said they were sitting around once..talking about what they would do some day when they retired....and Bob said...I think I will have a house on a lake...then every day i would sit in a nice comfortable chair overlooking the lake and read.....can you picture it?
----------------------------------------------------
--A young soldier wrote..."You could go up to him at any time, say hey sir can we talk? He'd drop what he was doing so you can tell him how much you hate..... and then you'd come out wanting to put on your Stetson and sign up for another few years...He just had that personality.  He would ask us to train on Saturdays just so we could be the best platoon in the 1-1 Cav.  I don't think one person said anything about not wanting to come in on their day off...."
---------------------------------------------------- ---
--A young officer said: "I remember a conversation with Bob during my first few weeks in Buedingen.  We were discussing some policy the commander came up with and Bob told me, 'You know, I have always believed that when you take something away from our soldiers, you've got to give them something else back.'"

----------------------------------------------------
--I remember a story he told us about when he first joined the unit in Baghdad...and I'm sure I don't have all the details but...he said when he arrived morale was kinda low and he wanted to try to lift spirits a bit...so he called his sergeant into his office and set him up so when he opened the door a bucket of water would pour all over him...which it did...and without breaking stride the sergeant saluted and said something like "I won't be forgetting that sir"....lol...which of course he didn't- then the unit planned Bob's initiation with some 'tarring and sanding' of their own....always could make people laugh you know? .....  Dare say--the morale picked up a bit after that, despite the locale.....what a concept right?
-------------------------------------------------
--A friend wrote to us who was Bob's baseball coach when he was about 7 or 8. (Bob never cared much for the game, nor did he excel at it but we made him join the team for a couple years anyways....) and Coach wrote to us that he remembered a game when out of the blue Bob hit a shot to the outfield that turned out to be a homerun ball...wow what a smile on his face as he crossed home plate....
-------------------------------------------------
--Or of course one of the famous 'random acts' --when he was in Walmart and put on the eye patch he purchased, walked up to the gun counter, and with a kind of German accent, asked for "some bullets"....

Anyone have any fun "Bob" stories to share? That is the greatest gift we can ask for... happy times Bob had throughout his life that we can share through others.....
