I never knew Bob or the family but recently heard about the Valentine's Day project in honor of Bob because I am on the board of the Freedom Lounge where you shared Valentine's for traveling military and family. I thought that was pretty cool. I checked the website out and thought it was cool that Bob was in Iraq where I am currently serving for my first tour. First time away from my husband on Valentine's Day because he is deployed in another location. Anyway I just thought your project was cool and Bob seems like he was a good man and Soldier and I'm proud to be walking on the soil where he served. V/R, CPT SLAUGHTER

Captain Bager and I both went to WNHS, he was a couple years older than me, never really met him. Probably saw him in the hallway a few times. A few years later, I was 21 and on my way out of Iraq. Saw Cpt Bager(think he was a LT at the time) in line at the DFAC(dining facility) in Camp Arifjian, kuwait. Asked him if he was from buffalo and if he went to north and he said yes. Had a brief conversation with him about ROTC. Shook his hand. He was very gracious and humble which is what I'll always remember during our brief conversation in Kuwait thousands of miles away from Buffalo, NY.

I didn't know "Captain Bob", but I just wanted to extend my condolences on your loss and to thank you for your son's service and sacrifice. I am deeply appreciative of all of our men's and women's sacrifice. They deserve our honor and respect. I am currently finishing a book called "Final Tributes - Incredible Ways Americans Are Remembering Our Fallen Troops". It tells the stories of a number of Americans who have found ways to memorialize our troops killed in Iraq & Afghanistan. It also lists all of their names. One of the stories is about the Lost Heroes Art Quilt and my Book Designer sent me to your site to get a picture of the Quilt. Would you have a jpeg image you would be willing to share with me? I had one, but it wasn't the right size for the reprint. He thought this one would work.

Mom made me this beautiful canvas print from a photo of you on one of your tanks in Iraq. Its hanging in the hallway and I look at it every single day, and miss you every single day. I ask Luke who is that in the picture? He says, 'uncle bobby!' So today he kept asking me to play trucks with him, and I am SO sick of it that I said, in a few minutes honey...you just drive them around by yourself for awhile and Ill watch. He paused, thinking, and kind of looked at the photo for a minute and then he said 'mommy, can uncle bobby play trucks with me?' It broke my heart because I know you would have been the best Uncle and the best playmate for your nephews. Mom keeps bringing out all of your old toys when we go to visit 'grandma and grandpa' and Luke just loves it. Its wonderful to watch Luke enjoy your old things, but its so hard, because I wish you were here to play with us. Love you so much, and miss you always big bro. xoxo

I did not your know dear son personally. However, your daughter (Chrissy) spoke very highly of Bob. In Canada, on November 11 at the eleventh hour (Remembrance Day), it is an honour to pay our respects, to the many brave women and men who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I will also take a moment to think about your dear son (Bob). I would like to post the following, for the Canadians and Americans. He whom this scroll commemorates, was numbered among those who at the call of King and Country, left all that was dear to them, endured hardness, faced danger and finally passed out of sight of men by the path of duty and self-sacrifice. Giving up their own lives that others might live in Freedom. Let those who come after, see to it, that many names be not Forgotten. Thank you very kindly for your time and sincere regards as well. I remember walking into 118 Holley and Bob was sitting in his room with a bottle of jack. He looks at me and goes Shaft have you ever thought what theme song you would want to enter a room to? I responded no, Bob then goes here I have a list of songs set aside on my playlist. When I walk into the room, just play a song. This went on for about an hour, I can't remember what song he settled on, but I know it was hillarious the whole time it was going on.

I am going to pass this site on to everyone in the family, as most don't have facebook. You already know this, but Bob was an amazing person and everyone who knew him was blessed to do so.

Just thinking about the good ol' days with LTB in 3rd Platoon. I know he loved being a Scout way more than a Tanker. Anyways, I am getting deployed to Afghanistan in April. I hope that my platoon leader can be half the man that LTB was. He always thought about his soldiers first and himself second. I never met any person that did not respect him. I just read, "In Bob's Words...," and I have no doubt that he would have been the greatest division commander to ever serve. God Bless You Sir!

LTB, was my Platoon Leader, and more importantly my friend, after ten years in the Army I can say I never had as much fun and felt like more of a brotherhood than I did when LTB was in charge. 3rd Platoon 1-1 Cav I miss the cheap pizza, cold beer, and WWII movie marathons see you at the Green Brother.

Geeze, all the crazy stuff we got into. I remember back years ago... Bob, Drew and I were hanging out for the summer. Must have been around 1994 or so. Drew and I discovered a way to make authentic looking "PODS" like from Aliens or Gremlins or something by using a little gasoline, Styrofoam and a match. We made them by accident in the vacant lot by Bobs house and decided to bring Bob over to see them one day. Well, inadvertently we forgot to mention to Bob that we had made them. When he saw them, he freaked out!!! Took off and ran into the house. We followed him inside, when we got to his room he was putting on all his army gear he had collected up and was getting ready to go to battle. He had his combat boots on, his canteen, knife in sheath, old metal helmet, vest everything on. Well by this time things had escalated to the point of no return on this unintentional joke. We went back out to the vacant lot and purely by coincidence found a dead bird near one of the pods, probably killed by a cat, but it nonetheless fueled the fire. We ended up, again by pure coincidence, finding more evidence of these "pod creatures" existence, tracks and everything, all the while jumping out of our skin at every strange noise we heard in the bushes. Drew and I were almost believing these pod creatures existed by the end of the day. Eventually we were able to convince Bob we made the pods in the first place, which was by no means an easy task! Aye me, he will be missed. Love ya Bob!!!! J. Moody

"the love that once was born can not die for it has become part of us, of our life, woven into the very texture of our being. each of us would wish to leave some part of ourselves, so here and now we bear witness to the one we knew in life, who now in death bequeaths a subtle part, precious and beloved, which will be with us in truth and beauty, in dignity and courage and love to the end of our days." ~ algernon black

Don't apologize for a novice site. This is nicer than some "professional" sites. One suggestion: maybe some more family (pre-army) pictures in the photo section. I'm sure any visitor to the site would enjoy them, especially people who only new Bob through the army and never saw that side

Any suggestions, stories you want to share?Bob has this way of randomly popping into my life, when I least expect it. But isn't that just the way he works?! If its Monday and I'm dreading going to my Early American History night class, I smile and remember how Bob used to lecture me about having a better appreciation of the history of our Country. The 6 months I spent out west for AmeriCorps, he came into my thoughts so often. I knew he would be very proud of me and what I was doing...I knew he wouldn't be suprised at the amazing things I was doing. He always told me that I deserved the best, and he had no doubt that if I put my heart into anything I would do amazing things. But Bob randomly coming into my thoughts isn't surprising. He had so many amazing qualities...one of them being his randomness. How many people were subject to standing in Canal Side (Brockports Bar) minding their own business, only to turn their head to the right, and have Bobs finger in their face! Or the random SCREAM in your ear in the midst of Canal Sides loud crowdedness! I'll never forget being woken up by bob yelling at me through my groundfloor window the summer we were all neighbors in Brockport. Begging me to come outside, I was wasting a nice summer day. The SECOND I walked outside I was BOMBARDED by water balloons and supper soakers that Steve and Bob had just purchased at a random trip to Wal-Mart. Was the infamous pinapple bought that day too?! So many amazing memories that summer. So many amazing memories in general....

Any suggestions, stories you want to share?Bob was an inspiration to a great many fellas. He was my best friend, and the man I respected and admired most. Everyone who knew him liked him, everyone who really knew him couldn't help but love the guy. The Cavalry community lost a very formidable officer, the world lost a strong spirit; however, I'll never lose the memory of my friend. I know he's still here with all of us in spirit, and I know if my "Wingman" were here stil, he'd be taking care of the U.S. Soldier, and getting "Honked-off" at all the changes in the Army's Armored Corps. ;) See you again, Buddy.....

"Teach love to those who hate, and let that love embrace you as you go out into the world. May the teachings of those you admire become part of you, so that you may call upon them. Remember, those whose lives you have touched and whose have touched yours are always a part of you, even if the encounters were less than you would have wished. It is the content of the encounter that is more important than the form." - unknown

Not a day goes by that I don't think about Bob. I see him in Angela with her drive for perfection in her music the way Bob was in the things he did ever since he was a young boy like building his Lego masterpieces. It just wasn't right until the last phaser was put in place. I see him in Michael when he's with his friends and they're playing hockey in the basement or something else that makes it sound as if the house is falling down and I call him on it and he gives me some witty response with that sly smile on his face that I have to walk away shaking my head in exasperation laughing. I think of him when I read the paper and I see pictures of our brave soldiers fighting for our freedom and the right to live as we want and I think have I thanked them all today and everyday. I look forward to reading stories about Bob from people who knew him and loved him and want to share their thoughts with us. Bob,till we meet in Heaven I know you're watching over us.
